Playground Project Update April 2020

Dear Flame Partners

Warmest greetings from all of us here at Flame Trust and thank you for your generous support of our Playground Project in Romania.

I felt it appropriate to write to you to give you an update on the status of the Playground Project as we are in these difficult and challenged times.  Romania is experiencing a very tight lockdown even though the number of Covid -19 cases is still comparatively small. At present it appears that freedom of movement will not be reviewed until 15th May and all flights are suspended.  Having said that, Wizz Air are lifting some of their restrictions and hope to be flying at the beginning of May, but it appears that there will be strict protocols around passengers on arrival and movement in the country will be closely monitored and also restricted.  We wait and see.

This has meant that Calin’s visit to meet with the Director of the Home where the playground will be built had to be postponed.  It was originally scheduled for 9th April.  However, we are still working very closely with the Director and we are using the extra time imposed by the restrictions to continue with the design and fully researching all stakeholders who are likely to be involved in the construction work and supply of equipment.  In these uncertain times, my guess is that the project could be delayed by three months as it is essential that we re-schedule Calin’s visit and plan appropriately for the completion of the project which we would want to make sure is delivered to the very highest standards.

The purpose of this communication is therefore to let you know that we would value your prayers as we forge ahead given the unique circumstances of the present time.  However, I am confident that we shall complete probably by late summer and that your prayerful and practical investment is well protected.  We have a designated account at Flame and no money is ever transferred to specific projects without all of the necessary guarantees and protocols in place, but please pray that very soon we will be able to accomplish our hopes and dreams for these disadvantaged young people in Maramures.

Again I want to thank you for your support and I hope that this email finds you safe and well in these extraordinary times.

Yours sincerely
